High Point State Park:

Host of the highest peak in New Jersey, High Point State Park is in the most northern region, in Sussex County. Accessible all year round, but difficult during the winter months and snow-covered covered roads, High Point State Park actually host a great length of the Appalachian Trail that cuts through New Jersey. With several trailheads and connections throughout the park it’s fun to access one of the most notable trails in the country.
Worthington State Forest:

Nicole does a great job of capturing the wide angle view from the top of this popular hike along the Delaware river. There are over 26 miles of trails in Worthington State Park, including 5 miles of canoe trails on the Delaware River, and over 7 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Worthington State Park is home to one of the most notorious hikes in New Jersey, Mt. Tammany. The peak stand over 1500ft. above the Delaware River, the challenging hike is well-worth the panoramic views at the top!
Wharton State Forest:
Wharton State Forest is in the southern portion of the state and is home to over 50 miles of trails, including a interconnection trail system between the Bryne and Bass River State Forests as well. There is an abundance of wildlife that can be found in this region of the state, including bald eagles, various hawks, great-horned owls, turkeys, fox, and beavers. There are may miles of unpaved roads that are great for mountain biking and horseback riding.
Wawayanda State Park:

With an abundance of well-marked trails, there are over 60 miles to choose from in Wawayanda State Park. Of those trails, you can trek through a 20-mile section of the Appalachian Trail, you can search for the white blazes along this narrow and rocky stretch of the trail. With a wide selection of difficulty rated trails, this is a great state park to visit for any level of hiking. There are plenty of outlook locations including the top of Wawayanda Mountain for panoramic views.
Allaire State Park:

Home to several historic buildings from 19th-Century iron making, Allaire State Park in Farmindale, New Jersey is centrally located in the state and offers a wide network of trails throughout the park. There are not too many marked trails throughout the park, but there are great trails for multi-use including hiking and mountain biking.
Allamuchy State Park:
Located in the Northwest region of New Jersey, Allamuchy is a unique State Park known for the best trout fishing in the state, but is home to many miles of trails throughout the park. There are several sections of the park with over 50 miles of hiking trails total. It is home to the Muscanetcong River which allows a unique hiking perspective through marsh lands.
