Dan Farrell - South Jersey
Camera Equipment: Canon Rebel t5i; 20mm 2.8; 50mm 1.8
Hello I'm Dan and I'm an eighteen year old kid living in South Jersey. I started shooting about four years ago and I haven't been able to put my camera down since. For me, photography is a means by which I can express myself and along with music and skateboarding, it is something I am very passionate about. However, I don't really consider myself a photographer. Instead, I see myself as an adventurer who enjoys sharing his travels with others because it's not just about the destination, but also the journey which accompanies it.
Michael Danila - Central Jersey
Camera Equipment: Sony a7s II, Canon 6D; DJI Mavic Pro Drone, DJI Phantom 3 Professional Drone
My name is Michael Danila and I am 26 years old. I am a lifestyle and adventure photographer/ cinematographer who is also educated and trained to save lives as a registered nurse. What nursing school did not prepare me for were the different types of people that I would encounter. One night before an elderly man took his last breath, he told me how he worked hard and earned a lot of money, but that his biggest regret was not being able to travel and live life to the fullest.
From the moment I held a camera in my hands, I knew my life would change forever. I made it a life goal to create and capture as many memories as possible through a camera and a set of lenses. I continue to work as a nurse to remind myself, and others who have a second chance at life, to not take it for granted. As human beings, we are obligated to share with one another. My gallery of photos and videos are my way of sharing my life experiences with strangers of the world.
Chris Soto - Central/North Jersey
My name is Chris Soto, and I am a photographer based out of New Jersey; born and raised. I was originally going to school for electrical engineering, but never had the drive or passion for it. After a couple of years, I decided to follow my heart and pursue my love for photography. Since then I haven't looked back, and couldn't be happier! "You should never do it for the money... follow your heart and the money will come." I enjoy all styles of photography - from weddings, sweet 16s, bar mitzvahs, fashion, portraits, landscapes, and commercial photography. If you are looking for a photographer who you can connect with, is willing to work hard and give you exactly what you want - I'm your photographer.
Sean Mahon - North Jersey
Camera Equipment: Canon 5d Mark iii; Sony A7r; Canon L Series 24-70mm 2.8f; Canon L Series 50mm 1.4f; Canon L Series 16-35 2.8; Tamron 12mm
I was born and raised in New Jersey. Monmouth county resident all my life. I started doing professional video productions when I was about 15. Lost interest by time I was about 21. Not exactly sure why I lost interest, but I sold my video camera and used the money to by a photography camera. Liked the freedom that came with it since I wasn't doing it for work, but as a hobby.
I instantly fell in love with that freedom and used photography as an excuse to travel and stay out late when I should have been studying. I constantly find myself searching for NJ based photos. I think my favorite part about photography, is that photographers can continuously shoot the same subject time after time and still seem to find unique perspectives and have each photo stand alone. There is an indescribable attraction I find to NJ. The fact that you can go from hiking part of the Appalachian to sitting on the beach watching sunset within the same day is something special.
When I look behind the lens, I try and look for emotion. I try to capture an image that will make the audience feel something rather than just see it. John Berger once said something in his "Ways of Seeing" that basically said, the way we see images is different than the way they were intended to been seen due to photography and reproduction of images. The intended meaning of the images have been lost and replaced by simplistic meanings seen on the surface of the image. He explains that we as viewers attach words to images helping to explain their meanings. I don't want to transmit words through my photos as much as I want to transmit feelings through them.
I think photography is an excellent way to preserve a memory and tell a story. In a world of instant gratification and little patience, I'm just trying to capture something worth remembering or looking at twice.
